Behind X2 is the questioning of the clutch and hold within an abusive relationship. Despite a connection being a two-way street, one side will always go with the other in fear of clashing which leads into a toxic cycle of clinging until one lashes out.
The lashing out is portrayed as a bottled up explosion as one begins to visualise the real traits, emotions and thoughts behind the other also known as the revealing of true colours, this consists of the other being depicted as “malevolent” and “pretentious”.
“I let your words poison me” is a representation of resentment’s effect on the aggressive stage of grief, grief being the main concept of this track.
